Isabella Marzo   Reflection Post 2      In the quickly evolving world of today, mental health and access to high-quality education are two factors that influence the foundation of a successful, healthy society more than nearly anything else. These talks demonstrate how education propels economic opportunity, equity, and national advancement while highlighting the ways in which our social networks and mental health impact everything from how we feel to how we behave. Let's examine what I discovered about these subjects in more detail and why they are more important than ever. Mental Health and Social Life      This presentation examines the intricate relationship between social life and mental health, highlighting how both are necessary for each other to flourish. The state of emotional, psychological, and social well-being that influences a person's thoughts, feelings, and behavior is known as mental health. Globally and in the United S...

Reflecting on Group Presentations: A Journey Through Collaboration and Insight        Group Presentations are always a little unpredictable. Sometimes you get a super organized team where everything clicks, and other times it's chaos. Right now in SPC1017, we've been working on our second group project, and I wanted to reflect on how it went. Im going to talk about the work Group 1 and Group 3 presented and then I'll share my experience working with my own group. Spoiler. alert: I got really lucky with my group.     Group 1- The economics of Education Group 1 focused on a topic that honestly doesn't get talked about enough. How money affects educational opportunities. Their presentation broke down the economic factors that shame how people access and succeed in education. Things like underfunded schools, student debt, and the impact of family income on graduation rates were discussed in a way that made everything clear and powerful.       ...

Group Reflections Mental Health and "Fun" Social Life - Group 2 Study Guide Before I dive into discussing my group’s very informationally dense presentation I wanted to acknowledge how enriching doing the study guide was, especially the chapter that I focused on. Chapter 11 (Topic Selection and Development) essentially provided really good pointers for formulating and articulating a speech. As self-explanatory as it sounded, it repeated the emphasis of keeping the rhetorical situation in mind and to tailor the speech to suit the audience demographic to avoid marginalizing and stereotyping. I learned that in the preparation of any type of public speech, I should gauge what the audience’s initial level of knowledge is on the subject matter, either by doing polls or surveys (worst case scenario make an educated guess) to ensure that all bases are covered. Moving forward, my first step will not just be selecting a topic, but actively thinking about who I am speaking to and why ...

What I Learned from the presentations.  For these presentations we explore the topics of education, mental health, fun and social life, family influence, and future careers. Each presentation informed us about how these topics are related to us and also how they have an effect on us. I will be reflecting on the three presentations and what I learned, how they connect, and why they matter right now.  Group 1- The economics of education  This group’s presentation focused on how education is deeply connected to economic opportunity. They really broke down how education is so much more than just getting good grades or finishing school. It actually plays a huge role in how strong a country’s economy is. One of the biggest things that stuck with me was how education directly impacts job opportunities and income. Like, someone with a bachelor’s degree can earn almost double what a high school grad makes.  They also showed how not everyone has the same access to educat...

Reimagining My Future: Mental Health, Education and Breaking Generational Cycles.                     By Fernanda Roman  June 2025 Topics that define your life               There are certain topics that are more than just academic but essential to create a life you are proud of. Through the 3 presentations of Mental Health, Education, and Family Expectations I realized that this topics need to be explored honestly and openly in order to get a complete grasp of it. These topics are the ones that shape your life, and is important to be in touch with them.            Mental Health and Social Life  A correlational relationship     Mental Health and Social Life are like two sides of the same coin. Without one, the other struggles. When talking about these topics we used to separate them, however, how well you are in one defines the other. For...

Blog Post #2                     When we look at the world around us, we start to realize that there are various factors that move everyone farther in life. Whether it be the small things such as how we think, the people around us and how that affects the careers we decide to pursue, or even the education we receive throughout the adolescent years of our lives; all of our lives are different from one another. In SPC1017, I was lucky enough to learn more about these three topics in depth and reflect on not only my own views, but my classmates’ views as well. In this blog, let’s explore what I’ve taken away from the presentations presented to me and relate the things I’ve learned to the real world we all live in currently. Mental Health and Fun Social Life                Firstly...
